Life is made of these.

Epic weekends. Mini-vacations. Moments when "why not?" is the first question.

Friday afternoon began the first weekend as a professional where I could just absolutely relax. A movie Friday evening, sleeping in Saturday morning. I helped a friend in her classroom Saturday morning, but followed that with a nap and impromptu trip to "The City" (Okie code word for Oklahoma City) where I proceeded to spoil myself and be spoiled. Saturday night included shopping, dinner, a movie, ("Crazy, Stupid Love" - highly recommend), and checking in at a nice hotel. After sleeping in Sunday, I enjoyed free breakfast, relaxing until check out, and then...more shopping. I admit: I bought a shirt and a pair of shoes I didn't need, but I did manage to get great deals on power-suits that I did "need" for work:-) This was followed by TV and XBOX shopping...which ended up narrowing my choices down and bringing more of my business to Amazon.com. The good news? My new entertainment vehicles arrive on Wednesday. And, when all is said and done, I still saved a chunk of change on the whole experience today:-)

I got home to Tulsa, ironed and stocked my closet, showered, and read. The biggest chore this evening was laundry - and really, who doesn't LOVE the smell of clean clothes?

I miss my kids enormously. And know that I have a lot of work to do this year and I am so thankful for that. But, I'm also happy to finding that balance between work and life. And also finding time to just do things for me. I know I won't have these weekends always (and if I did, they probably would lose their epic value), but it was so refreshing. And I'm grateful to have had it.

Reminds me of that song lyric..."Sweet dreams are made of these...who am I to disagree?"
